Across three festival weekends, we follow Beethoven’s life and artistic development. The Engegård Quartet opens the Trilogy Festival with String Quartet No. 1, Op. 18 No. 1, joined by outstanding musicians from Norway and abroad — several of whom you can also hear in this opening concert.

The programme ranges from variations on a theme from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, performed by rising stars Fredrik Heistø Carlsen and Nikita Khnykin, to the Piano Trio Op. 1 No. 3, in which Beethoven’s extraordinary talent is already unmistakable. We are delighted to welcome Dénes Várjon back to the festival for the legendary Moonlight Sonata.
